Please be sure to review these action items carefully. 

1. Ensure a Successful Transition: Mandatory Actions

Items in this first group include mandatory actions that must be completed to ensure a successful transition to Pepperdine, as marked by the asterisks.

Register for New Student Orientation (NSO)*

Review all the NSO pages for important information before school starts.

July 16, 2023 (*Registration is now OPEN!)

Registration is a 2 part system: 

1. Student registers for NSO by logging into WaveNet at https://wavenet.pepperdine.edu using your Pepperdine network ID and password. In your Student Center, click on the link for "Register for NSO." 

Register yourself and any guests or family members for orientation. If you are a first-year student, select your first-year seminar class preference.

2. Payment Portion for Guests: NSO Payment is Open.

Sign up for Housing*

The Housing Portal opens May 15, 2023 for new first-year and transfer students to submit their housing applications for the 2023-2024 academic year! Students who submit applications after the deadline are still guaranteed housing, but they will not have the option of selecting a roommate nor are they guaranteed notification of their placement by July 3.  All placement notifications will be sent prior to check-in day.

International Students ISD Deadline in Order to Obtain I-20 for the F-1 Visa*

Sign into the OISS portal and complete the International Student Data (ISD) Form to receive your Form I-20 required to schedule your F-1 Visa appointment at the US Embassy / Consulate.

Immediate submission recommended due to visa delays:

Complete Your Health Insurance Requirement*

Pepperdine requires that all students* have a U.S. based health insurance plan. To meet this requirement, students must select one of two options: 1) Enroll in SHIP or 2) Waive SHIP on the AHP Insurance Dashboard.

*The requirement for US-based health insurance does not apply to international students studying exclusively online in their own country.

World Waves Program

International students, join the World Waves Program next Fall to connect with your peers in and out of the classroom. In addition to activities such as luncheons, community meals, and mentoring by student leaders, World Waves includes a weekly one-unit course that promotes intercultural exchange and success at Pepperdine.

Language Placement Exams

Students who studied French, German, Chinese, or Spanish in high school, have no college credits in the language, and plan to continue their studies in that language within the next year are required to take the exam.

The Center for Faith and Learning provides a reading and journal assignment to all incoming first year students to help you focus on the question of vocation. The assignment does not apply to students with 30+ transfer units taken at another college.
