Academic Regalia

Academic Regalia

Regalia rentals will be funded by the college for all students participating in commencement ceremonies. The regalia will include the Pepperdine custom cap, gown, and tassel. Seaver College graduation stoles will be available for purchase.

Gowns, as well as hoods for master’s students, must be returned at the conclusion of the ceremony to the designated drop-off bins on Alumni Park. Caps and tassels may be kept by graduates.

Regalia Orders

All regalia rentals and purchases can be ordered online through Herff Jones, our regalia partner.  Herff Jones staff will be available for in-person assistance at the Graduation Kickoff in the bookstore on March 17 & 18, 2026.

A limited amount of regalia rentals will be available at Grad Fest and on the day of your ceremony; however, we recommend placing a rental order to ensure you have a gown of fitting length and to avoid possibly long lines for last-minute pickup.

Regalia Distribution

Regalia will be available for pickup at Grad Fest, which will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 9 AM to 4 PM on the Malibu Campus at Mullin Town Square. We strongly recommend picking up your regalia at Grad Fest to avoid waiting in possibly long lines on the day of your ceremony.

Graduates who wish to have regalia shipped to their homes may select the “home ship” delivery option; however, there will be a charge for this option. You can return rented gowns to the designated drop-off bins at the conclusion of the ceremony, or you can use the return shipping label that was included in your original delivery to ship your rented regalia back to Herff Jones. Due to a limited supply of gowns, delayed shipping, and COVID-19 cleaning protocols, regalia rentals may take several weeks to arrive.

Honor Cords (Undergraduates Only)

If you graduate with honors, you will receive your honor cords when you check in on commencement day. These honor cords are the only items that may be worn on your regalia. Cum laude honors recognize those who achieve a 3.500 grade point average in their entire undergraduate career. Magna cum laude honors recognize those who achieve a 3.700 grade point average. Summa cum laude honors recognize those who achieve a 3.900 grade point average. GPAs will not be rounded.

It is in the tradition of Seaver College that because master's graduates wear hoods, they do not receive honor cords.
