Graduation Day Planning
Each graduate will be granted two tickets for guests. If seating remains available after the initial allocation of tickets, details to request additional tickets will be posted on the commencement website. Guest attendance is limited by regulations set forth by the State of California and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
- California residents are eligible to attend the commencement ceremonies.
- Guests who reside outside of California are required to be fully vaccinated in order to attend the ceremonies. For the purposes of this guidance, a person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the last recommended dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (CDC).
- In addition to complying with the requirement to be fully vaccinated, students residing internationally should submit a travel permission to the Office of International Student Services for further guidance.
In accordance with state and country directives, all guests age 16 and older will
be required to present a state-issued identification (e.g., driver’s license or similar)
that indicates their state of residence in order to gain entry to the commencement
ceremony. All guests who are not residents of California will be required to present
a COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card evidencing their fully vaccinated status.
All seating will be in bleachers. Guests will be seated in household groups with six feet of physical distance between each group. Guests must proceed to their seats upon arrival and remain seated for the duration of the ceremony.
All who attend the ceremonies—graduates, faculty, staff, guests, and others—must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth at all times. Attendees must maintain appropriate physical distancing between attendees not from their household.

As you prepare to register for tickets, please be aware that graduates must submit all ticket requests at the same time. Additional requests are not permitted in the ticketing system. When acquiring tickets, you will be required to indicate the vaccination status and/or residence of your guests, which will also be verified upon entry to the commencement ceremony.
During the ticketing process, all guests will be required to indicate their state of residency and vaccination status.
Tickets will be emailed to the graduate for distribution to their guest(s). Graduates will have the ability to forward the tickets to all guests. At the ceremony site, guests will be required to present either a printed hard copy ticket or display the ticket on their phone. Attendees who do not receive their ticket are encouraged to contact their graduate.
On May 4, Los Angeles County moved into the minimal, or “yellow,” tier of the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy, which allows the University to increase commencement ceremony capacity to 67 percent. However, due to social distancing requirements, the University will need to seat fully vaccinated guests together in a specially designated section to approach the permitted capacity limits. The more individuals who are willing to sit in fully vaccinated seating, the University may potentially be permitted to offer additional tickets, allowing additional family members of graduates to attend the commencement ceremony.
To request a seat in the fully vaccinated section when registering your guests, please indicate whether the fully vaccinated individual is willing to sit with others from outside their households. Guests in these sections will be required to wear masks but will be seated without social distancing requirements.
In compliance with state and county COVID-19 guidelines, all individuals seated in fully vaccinated seating will have their vaccination status verified by the University. Guests must be able to present their COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card on the day of the commencement ceremony, in addition to attesting they will be fully vaccinated by the date of the ceremony when registering.
If you are unable to attend the commencement ceremony but wish to have your name read during the commencement ceremony, please submit your information no later than Friday, May 14. Seaver College commencement ceremony in 2022.
Both commencement ceremonies will be broadcast online, live, and on-demand for future viewing. Livestreams will being 15 minutes prior to the start of each commencement ceremony and can be viewed on the commencement website.
On-campus parking is available at locations marked on the attached map, on campus streets, and at the Drescher Graduate Campus on Via Pacifica. Shuttles will be in service, available at any marked campus shuttle stop. Special parking arrangements have been made for guests with special accessibility needs at convenient locations. This event honors our graduates’ accomplishments and the rich diversity they bring to the educational experience. President Gash will deliver a virtual commissioning prayer and message on Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22 at 10 AM. The Office of the President invites graduating seniors and guests to attend the virtual prayer service. This time of prayer and worship will celebrate God’s work through students in their studies and service at Pepperdine, and offer blessings over their future journeys.
Graduates will be photographed as they receive their diplomas during the commencement ceremony by GradImages (gradimages.com). In the past, GradImages has been able to deliver proofs by email within 24 hours to graduates who indicate an email address on cards. Please use this photography service and remain seated during the ceremony.
It is important to clear all financial obligations with the Library, the Student Health Center, the Student Accounts Office, and the Financial Aid Office prior to graduation. For Student Accounts information, call 310.506.8000. If you have borrowed a Federal Direct Stafford, Federal Perkins, or Pepperdine Institutional loan at any time while at Pepperdine, please complete an online Loan Exit Counseling session prior to graduation. All graduating seniors will be asked to complete the “National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).” This online survey—a followup survey to the survey that you completed during your first year at Pepperdine—will be sent to you at your Pepperdine email address. You will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card for completing the survey. At this time, in-person division receptions for graduates, families, and the faculty of Seaver College will not be held due to space limitations that will greatly limit compliance with social distancing requirements at outdoor locations on the Pepperdine campus.
