Pillars and Goals

ICA Five Pillars

  Advocacy and Mentorship

At ICA, advocacy and mentorship are foundational to fostering an inclusive and supportive community. We are committed to empowering individuals, amplifying voices, and creating spaces for meaningful dialogue and growth, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive both personally and professionally.

  Campus Programming

To enhance student support and engagement beyond the classroom, ICA designs and facilitates campus programming aimed at fostering a vibrant community rooted in learning and leadership. These programs encompass both departmental initiatives and student-led club activities, creating meaningful opportunities for connection and growth.

  International Student Programming and Support

ICA is committed to empowering and supporting international students as they navigate academic, cultural, and social experiences in a new environment. Through tailored programming, mentorship, and advocacy, we strive to foster a sense of belonging, inclusion, and cross-cultural engagement. Our goal is to provide the resources, connections, and opportunities necessary for international students to thrive academically, grow personally, and build meaningful community throughout their journey.

  Training and Cultural Competency Education

The ongoing development of skills, knowledge, and personal growth is essential in higher education to foster meaningful connections across diverse cultural backgrounds. ICA supports this effort by offering Intercultural Development training sessions, available by request, to student leaders and departments across campus.

  Student Leadership Development

ICA recognizes that student leadership development is an increasingly vital aspect of the higher education experience. By supporting students in their leadership journey, ICA helps strengthen communication and collaboration skills, foster resilience, and enhance adaptability—preparing them for a dynamic society that values agility and innovation.

ICA Goals

The ICA office will provide students with excellent resources, advising, educational programs, and services that enhance the undergraduate experience for all students and foster a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and educationally stimulating campus environment.  This environment will help students explore their own and others' various identities as well as provide academic, social, and cultural support. Adopting a Christian theological framework, ICA serves as a conduit for engaging the important issues that advance learning and shape a climate of inclusion.

Learning Outcomes

Much of student learning takes place outside of the classroom. Student Affairs departments, including this one, seek to support student learning and development. Explore the specific list of learning outcomes of this department.
