California Licensing Examinations
In addition to completing the required coursework and clinical experiences in teacher preparation, prospective teachers are required by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) to take one or more of the following licensing assessments:
- Education Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA)
- California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
- California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) (Seaver's English education major is a CCTC single subject matter preparation program (SMPP) and completing it waives the English CSET.)
- Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA) for multiple subject teacher candidates
California Education Code section 69432.7(1)(2)(A) requires that institutions provide an access point for prospective and current students to view the institution's license examination passage rates for the most recent available year. This information reflects the percent of Seaver students who passed an attempted assessment from September 2022 through August 2023.
