Master of Arts in American Studies
The Master of Arts in American Studies provides students with an interdisciplinary study of U.S. culture including political science, history, literature, moral traditions, and elective courses. Courses are scheduled to accommodate a full-time employment while completing the degree.
Prerequisites
Applicants for the American studies program will have usually completed an undergraduate major in one of the basic disciplines of our American studies program: English, history, religion, or political science.
Program Requirements
The Master of Arts in American Studies is a 36-unit degree. The degree consists of seven mandatory core courses and two elective courses.
Examinations and Final Requirements
Prior to finishing the program, each student must satisfactorily pass a comprehensive examination covering all areas of coursework in the program. Our capstone reading course assists students in integrating completed coursework and serving as preparation for the comprehensive exam.
