Financial Aid Process and Requirements

The following information is for current or returning students only.

Deadlines

Please review the various deadlines of which you need to be aware as you complete the financial assistance application process.

Priority Deadline is May 1 for submitting your Verification documents.

Requirements for 2022-23

STEP 1: Complete the FAFSA by March 15

The FAFSA form is available via online. The priority deadline is March 15 to continue to be considered for need-based aid. Need-based aid includes, but is not limited to, Federal Work Study, Federal Seaver Trust Grant, Federal Perkins Loan, etc. If you lost your FSA ID, click here to retrieve it. If you have any questions about the progress of your application, please call FAFSA directly at 800.433.3243 or 319.337.5655.

STEP 2: Submit Additional Information for Verification

This section is only for those students selected for Verification. Only students selected for Verification should submit additional documents which will be listed in your "To Do List" by mid-March. Review your "To Do List" often, because verification items are subject to change.

Failure to submit all required verification documents may cause delays or cancellation of disbursement of federal and state awarded financial assistance. Finance charges accrue daily on past due balances. If financial assistance is delayed or cancelled, it is the student's/parent's responsibility to find other resources to pay all charges prior to the due date in order to avoid finance charges.

Priority Deadline is April 15 for submitting your Verification documents.

Please note important information below:

  • Your federal and state aid will not be awarded until your Verification documents are complete.
  • Your prompt response is required if additional documentation is necessary. Failure to complete verification may result in cancellation of your federal aid and state aid.
  • Submit your verification documents as soon as possible, but not later than October 15.
  • Any changes in your financial assistance due to Verification will be updated on WaveNet.

Other forms/documentation that may be required include:

  • Income and Expense Statement
  • IRS Return Transcript (complete form 4506-T, request online, set up a user name with the IRS and print your transcript, or use the DRT)
  • Divorce decree or Legal separation documents

Failure to submit all required verification documents by the priority deadline may cause delays or cancellation of disbursement of federal and state financial assistance. Finance charges accrue daily on past due balances. If financial assistance is delayed or cancelled it is the students/parents responsibility to find other resources to pay all charges prior to the due date in order to avoid finance charges.
