Church of Christ Applicants and Scholarships

What are the Churches of Christ?

George Pepperdine was a lifelong member of (a congregation of) the Churches of Christ. Church of Christ fellowships arose from the American Restoration Movement, which sought to restore unity among Christian believers by rejecting creeds and returning to the Bible as the only authoritative doctrine of faith and practice. For this reason, Churches of Christ are autonomous, non-denominational congregations associated by common core beliefs as recorded in the New Testament rather than united by a governing body, president, or creed. Pepperdine is rooted in this heritage, and Seaver College exhibits its commitment to its affiliation through many programs. To learn more, please click here.

Church of Christ Scholarship Opportunities

 Christian Leadership Award ($5,000)

Students who are members of a congregation traditionally associated with the Churches of Christ described above can apply to be considered for church-related scholarships. In order to be considered for the Christian Leadership Award, Church of Christ applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a church leader (minister, elder, youth minister, etc.) of the Church of Christ congregation of which they are a member.

Submitting Recommendations

After you submit your application, you will receive access to the Pepperdine Application Portal, where you can request a Church of Christ recommendation. Your recommender will then receive an email with a link to fill out your recommendation. If you have any questions, please contact the Church of Christ Admission Counselor, Katie White, at katie.white2@pepperdine.edu.
