Model United Nations Team Named Outstanding Delegation at National Conference

From April 3 to 7, 2022, the 26 students on Pepperdine Model United Nations (Model UN) team represented the Kingdom of Norway at the National Model United Nations (NMUN) 2022 New York City Conference. While at the conference, the team participated in thirteen committees and was recognized with ten highly-prestigious awards.

The team awards included the Outstanding Delegation Award‚‚the highest honor reserved for the top delegation in conference, the Outstanding Position Paper Award in six committees, and the Outstanding Delegates in Committee Award for three committees. Each outstanding delegate spoke in front of the conference at the closing ceremony.

As travel restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic continue to ease, it was refreshing to meet and collaborate with delegates representing universities from around the world, Madison Petrilli, the chief financial officer of Model UN, shares.

The committee topics included circular economies, sustainable development, non-state actors, Palestinian refugee assistance, and equitable and inclusive education.

Our team was really close this year, junior and incoming Model UN president Aaron Kramer shares. We received more awards this year than any in recent memory, and I think that was partly because we prepared really well‚‚we did lots of training, participated in a lot of simulations, but being a supportive and cohesive group was what really helped us be successful.
