Satchel, Bryant-Davis, and Cooper to Discuss Marginalized Women, Technology, COVID-19 at Harvard's Berkman Klein Center Event

Blanche E. Seaver Professor of Communication Roslyn Satchel, Graduate School of Education and Psychology professor Thema Bryant-Davis, and Caruso School of Law associate clinical professor Tanya Asim Cooper will discuss “Marginalized Women, Technology, COVID-19, and Intimate Partner Violence” at an upcoming virtual event hosted by Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 9 AM PST. 

As practitioners and experts in law, psychology, technology, religion, communication, and ethics, Satchel, Bryant-Davis, and Cooper will discuss the concerns specific to intimate partner violence among marginalized women and the unique opportunities that faith communities have to support survivors. The three scholar-activists are also noting COVID-19’s public health policies and resulting isolation and their impact on the lives survivors.

The event was made possible by Satchel’s appointment as one of the Berkman Klein Center’s 2020–2021 fellows. With the support of the fellowship, she has gained access to the interdisciplinary scholar community to continue her collaborative research and launch the In Search of Sanctuary website. In Search of Sanctuary continues to be an carefully researched effort from Satchel, Bryant-Davis, and Cooper to connect survivors with the resources they need while also helping faith groups better respond to and support survivors.
