Seaver College Announces New Student Fellowship for Equity and Social Justice

Seaver College Dean's Office has announced the creation of the new Student Fellowship for Equity and Social Justice. The fellowship supports two rising seniors who wish to pursue a project in the areas of belonging, inclusion, equity and social justice.

To be eligible, students must have demonstrated a deep and abiding commitment to issues of equity and social justice in the community and receive sponsorship from a faculty or administrative mentor. Each student awardee will receive a $7,500 scholarship to support the development and implementation of their project. Mentors will receive a stipend for supporting student fellows.

Additionally, student fellows will attend the annual W. David Baird Distinguished Lecture Series lecture focused on belonging, diversity, equity, inclusion, or social justice. After the lecture, each fellow and their sponsors will attend a dinner and discussion with the keynote speaker. The fellowship will culminate with a presentation of their projects in April of the award year.

The first fellowships will be awarded for the 2021–2022 academic year. Information related to the fellowship’s application process will be released in February 2021.
