Katherine Laris

Biography

Katherine received her MA in Art History from California State University, Northridge and her BA in Art History and Classical Archaeology from California State University, Long Beach. Katherine returns to Pepperdine after teaching here in the fall semester of 2019 and for the past eleven years has worked as a field supervisor for an archaeological excavation in Tuscany, Italy that also functions as a field school, teaching students archeological methodology and the art history of the local region through participation in the excavation process. Katherine also has previous excavation in Belize, working with the Belize valley Archaeological Reconnaissance Program in San Ignacio from 2011-2013. Her current research investigates the archaeology of spatial iconography, specifically the representation and reception of the pre-Roman Etruscan fertility goddess in public and private art.
