Scholarship and Financial Aid for Teacher Canidates
In addition to Pepperdine financial aid and scholarships, teacher candidates may apply
for the following:
Teacher Education Program Scholarship
This scholarship reduces or eliminates the cost of tuition during the semester teacher
candidates complete their full-time student teaching.
Susan K. Giboney Teacher Education Scholarship
This need-based scholarship helps to pay for the cost of examinations and other state
requirements, such as the Certificate of Clearance, CSET, and edTPA. Applicants can
expect to be awarded a portion of the requested amount and will receive up to $500
total over their time at Pepperdine.
Humanities/Teacher Education Division Scholarship
This annual scholarship is awarded to outstanding students who have a major that falls
within the Humanities/Teacher Education division (creative writing, English, film
studies, history, and liberal studies for education). Applicants must have completed
at least three courses in their major, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be eligible to
receive funds.
Seaver Faculty-Staff Scholarship
This annual scholarship is awarded to outstanding Seaver students. Applicants must
be currently enrolled in the spring semester, be returning as a full-time undergraduate
student in the fall, have completed at least 12 units at Pepperdine University, and
have a 3.500 GPA or higher.
Randall Internship Scholarship
Teacher candidates will automatically receive $500 during the semester they take EDUC
521 and another $500 for their EDUC 531 semester. The scholarship is intended to help
students pay for gas and professional clothing.
Golden State Teacher Grant (GSTG) Program
This California program awards up to $10,000 to students currently enrolled in a professional
preparation program approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and
working towards earning their preliminary teaching credential. For more information,

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant
The federal TEACH Grant Program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete coursework needed to begin a career in teaching. For more information, see https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/grants/teach
Public Service Loan Forgiveness
Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential holders who teach in a K-12 setting and/or are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization can apply for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after making the equivalent of 120 qualifying monthly payments under an accepted repayment plan, while working full-time for an eligible employer.
