Welcome from the Fine Arts Divisional Dean

Dean Lincoln HanksThe arts at Pepperdine flourish within Seaver College’s Fine Arts Division, where we offer degrees in music, theatre, art, and art history. Students may pursue specialized emphases in areas such as studio art, digital arts, art history, music performance, music education (pre-teaching credential), composition, composition for screen arts, theatre acting, theatre directing, theatre production and design, musical theatre, or theatre and screen arts.

Uniquely situated in the stunning setting of Malibu, California, and enriched by the cultural vibrancy of nearby Los Angeles, our programs provide an unparalleled environment for artistic and academic growth. Through Seaver College’s immersive liberal arts education, our students learn to be collaborative, cross-disciplinary, and disciplined thinkers—qualities that open doors to meaningful careers and fulfilling lives.

This is a place where students discover their voice and their calling as artists and scholars. If you are a prospective student seeking a community that will nurture both your creativity and your intellect in a welcoming Christian environment, we warmly invite you to connect with us. We are eager to welcome the next generation of exceptional artists and scholars to the Pepperdine Fine Arts Division.

 Fine Arts Recruitment Office

The Fine Arts Recruitment Office is a resource for prospective students to help them navigate the application and audition process for our various Fine Arts programs. For more information, please contact our office via email at fineartsrecruit@pepperdine.edu, or via phone at 310.506.4111.

 Fine Arts International Programs

We strongly encourage students to study abroad through Pepperdine's International Programs. Students who study abroad get to experience international art firsthand in its cultural context. Our summer and academic-year programs provide students with an excellent way to gain overseas experience and make rapid progress towards fulfilling the language requirement for the major.

Please explore International Programs' offerings and our major-specific programs. Theatre and Music students are encouraged to study abroad during the summer.

 Secondary Teaching Credentials

Students seeking a secondary credential in art, music, or English (Theatre) must satisfy all of the major requirements. More information about the credential program can be obtained from the Humanities and Teacher Education Division of Seaver College.
