Newt Rehabilitation

Group Project

In recent years, an unknown pathogen has begun impacting the health of the California newt (Taricha torosa) population in Arroyo Sequit, a local stream that the lab has been studying for decades as a part of our USGS partnership. Beginning in the summer of 2025, the laboratory has been working with the National Park Service to rescue, quarantine, and rehabilitate any affected newts found.
