John Standley

John Standley ('11) was a 2017 recipient of the Seaver College Alumni Recognition Award. Pepperdine University strives to cultivate graduates who go on to lead purposeful lives as servant-minded leaders throughout the world. Standley is the first alumnus in the 80-year history of Pepperdine University to serve as CEO and Chairman of a Fortune 500 company, Rite Aid. John has also devoted years of volunteer and financial support to the Children's Miracle Network and more.

This award was extended to him for his exceptional leadership in both the professional and academic worlds as he has personified Pepperdine's mission of a life of purpose, service and leadership. John has made a difference through giving back to Pepperdine through giving generously to scholarships and more at Seaver College, and is a Seaver Silver Medallion Associate.

Sylvia Franson

Mrs. Sylvia Franson ('XX) is a 2017 recipient the Seaver College Alumni Recognition Award. Pepperdine recognizes her accomplishments in her storied career with Telemundo Media, as well as her work with Women for Girls Leadership, GE Women's Network, OC NBCU Hispanic Forum, and even more worthy causes, with the Seaver Merit Recognition Award. Her achievements and community example honors Pepperdine University's desire to cultivate graduates who go on to lead purposeful lives as servant-minded leaders throughout the world and we thank her for her devotion to making the world a better place.

Sylvia's contributions back to Pepperdine include giving generously to Seaver College and by creating the Kyle and Sylvia Franson Endowed Scholarship, and she has worked hard to develop positive relationships between the Seaver Career Center and the Human Resources offices of NBC and Telemundo, and we sincerely appreciate her service in these ways.
