Nanci Carol Ruby
Biography
Nanci Carol Ruby is a director, writer, and educator based in Orange County, California. She holds professional memberships in the Actors Equity Association (AEA), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) and Women in Film – Los Angeles (WIF-LA.) Nanci Carol’s research interest is the integration of the arts and mental health. She has co-authored articles with her husband, James Ruby, PhD, published in the Journal of Creativity in Mental Health and the International Journal of Arts and Humanities. She has written course curriculum for The Theatre School (DePaul) Communication and Film (CSUF) and Human Services (CSUF.) Nanci Carol is a psychodrama director, trained by John Nolte, PhD, of the National Psychodrama Training Center. Nanci Carol comes to Pepperdine from Dodge College of Film & Media Arts at Chapman University, where she taught Directing for Television, Narrative Television, and Visual Storytelling for undergraduates, as well as Producer-Actor Workshop for graduate students. Nanci Carol has a passion for impactful storytelling; her feature film script, Sunshine House, has garnered nomination laurels from multiple film festivals and she looks forward to bringing the West Coast Premiere of Lookingglass Theatre’s Villette, adapted from Charlotte Brontë’s novel by playwright, Sara Gmitter, to the Pepperdine stage in January 2024.
