Biography

Matthew Joyner completed BS degrees in chemistry and mathematics at Lubbock Christian University in 2005 and then went on to complete his PhD in chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Oklahoma in 2010. As a scientist, he has pursued research in the areas of drug discovery, ethnobotany, microbial chemistry, metabolomics and protein-misfolding neurodegenerative diseases. Matthew teaches biochemistry courses and investigates the chemical and pharmacological properties of native medicinal plants traditionally used by local American Indians.
