Biography

Andrea Gyorody is the director of the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University, where she has served since 2021. An art historian and curator specializing in 20th- and 21st-century European and American art, she previously held curatorial roles at the Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Getty Research Institute, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

Gyorody has organized numerous acclaimed exhibitions, including Afterlives of the Black Atlantic, which received a 2020 Award for Curatorial Excellence. Her writing has appeared in Artforum, Hyperallergic, and other major publications. She holds a PhD from UCLA, an MA from Williams College, and a BA from Amherst College. At Pepperdine, she curates thought-provoking exhibitions and spearheads programming that engages both the university and the broader art community.
