Seaver College Senior Awarded "Outstanding Delegate" at US Air Force Academy's Assembly

Seaver College senior Kylie Jones attended this year’s United States Air Force Academy’s Department of Political Science Academy Assembly, “The City on the Hill: Rebuilding Democracy at Home and Abroad.” The conference was held on October 12 through 15, 2021. At the concluding ceremony, Kylie was awarded the title of “Outstanding Delegate” for her exceptional participation in the “Leveraging International Institutions to Renew a Liberal World Order” discussions.

Each year, the Seaver College international studies program sends a student delegate to the United States Air Force Academy’s Assembly. Since 1959, this annual conference has provided an opportunity for 150 top undergraduates to discuss topics of contemporary significance. Delegates participate with prominent academics, business leaders, government officers, and non-governmental organizations in plenary presentations and round table discussions.

Jones participated in two round table discussions during her time at the conference, and she was selected from among 40 students in her “Leveraging International Institutions to Renew a Liberal World Order” as “Outstanding Delegate.”

“Especially as the only Black woman in my round table group and as someone who hopes to work in international institutions, the conference was intimidating at first, but I was able to lean into what I’ve learned at Pepperdine and through Model UN and succeed,” the international studies major shares. “I am so excited to have received this award.”
