Best Off-Campus Restaurants Near Pepperdine
There are many advantages to living in Malibu for Pepperdine students. And a few that immediately come to mind are: proximity to the beach, access to the mountain, and closeness to Los Angeles. But, one of the most underrated parts about being a Pepperdine student is how easy it is to find good food just minutes from campus.
Whether you are rushing to grab breakfast before class, meeting friends for lunch
between lectures, or looking for a casual dinner spot after a beach day, Malibu has
plenty of great local options. From iconic burrito stands to fresh smoothie bars and
oceanfront cafes, these are some of the favorite off-campus eats every Pepperdine
student should know about.
Lily’s Malibu
Located in Point Dume Village, Lily’s is a Malibu staple. To be more specific, their
breakfast burritos are a Malibu staple, especially the classic bacon or chorizo burrito
with their famous hot sauce. It is the kind of place where you will see all types
of people from surfers on their way back from the beach to celebs trying to blend
in to your local yoga instructor. The wait can get long, especially on weekends, but
it is always worth the wait.
SunLife Organics

Just down the road from campus at the Malibu Country Mart, SunLife is Malibu’s go-to
spot for smoothies, acai bowls, and fresh juices. It’s got a bright, beachy atmosphere
that feels perfectly Malibu and is great for a morning pick-me-up or an afternoon
study break.. The Brazilian Bowl and the Wolverine are two of the most popular.
Howdy’s Sonrisa Cafe
Howdy’s reopened in the Malibu Country Mart in 2020, bringing back its beloved mix
of Baja-style Mexican food and fresh California flavors. The burritos, tacos, and
bowls are all crowd-pleasers, and the friendly staff make it a comfortable place to
eat with friends. Need a recommendation? Just order “The Pepperdine!”
Broad Street Oyster Company

If you are craving seafood, Broad Street Oyster Company at Malibu Village is the place
to go. Known for its lobster rolls, it has a casual, open-air vibe that fits perfectly
with Malibu’s coastal atmosphere. Not into sea food? Board Street also operates a
coffee shop around the corner that is also great to check out.
Malibu Farm

Located on the Malibu Pier, Malibu Farm offers fresh, locally sourced dishes with
unbeatable ocean views. Whether you order the Swedish pancakes for breakfast or the
salmon tacos for lunch, everything feels light, healthy, and California-inspired.
Grab a table outside and you will see why it is one of the most photographed spots
in Malibu.
Cafe Habana
Another Country Mart classic, Cafe Habana combines Cuban and Mexican flavors in a fun, lively setting. The grilled corn, shrimp tacos, and chicken enchiladas are all local favorites. It is a great spot for group dinners or to celebrate finishing finals.
Whether you are grabbing a burrito after class, sipping a smoothie between study sessions, or sitting down for seafood with a view, Malibu’s restaurants are just one of the many perks of being a student at Pepperdine.
