Seaver College Adjusts Fall 2023 Academic Calendar

Last week, Michael Feltner, the dean of Seaver College, announced changes to the 2023-2024 academic calendar. These adjustments include a four day fall break as well as an extended Thanksgiving holiday period. 

“These changes were made for many reasons, but principally to concretely demonstrate our commitments to both student wellness and success,” writes Feltner in his announcement. “It is my hope that the additional periods for restoration during the fall semester will provide tangible academic and personal benefits to all students.” 

The newly added fall break will begin on Friday, October 13, 2023, and continue through Monday, October 16, 2023. No classes will be held during this period. The Thanksgiving holiday period will begin at the close of classes on Friday, November 17, 2023, and continue through Sunday, November 26, 2023. 

In order to accommodate these added changes, fall semester 2023 classes will begin on Monday, August 21, 2023. 

No changes were made to the spring 2024 academic calendar. Classes will commence on Monday, January 8, 2024, and conclude on April 25, 2024. Commencement will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
