At Seaver College, our Fine Arts Division offers students excellent training in the disciplines of studio art, art history, music, and theatre arts. A group of renowned faculty, who are revered in their fields as practicing scholars, artists and teachers, prepare our students for careers in the arts and continued graduate study.

With approximately 300 students in the division, the unique programs are designed to prepare and inspire students to develop critical thinking, nurture creativity, and create the highest level of art and scholarship.

Undergraduate Majors and Minors

The Fine Arts Division offers several majors, minors, and emphases across the four programs within the division: Art, Art History, Music, and Theatre.

In order to be considered as a major or minor, you must complete the supplementary application, as well as submit a portfolio (Art and Production Design) or audition (Music and Theatre).

Audition Dates for the 2015-2016 Cycle:

  • Saturday, November 14, 2015 (Preview Day)
  • Saturday, January 23, 2016
  • Saturday, January 30, 2016
  • Saturday, February 6, 2016

Applications and scheduling auditions for Spring 2015 or Fall 2016 admittance will become available August 1, 2015.

Our Fine Arts Division offers students a handful of rich learning opportunities. Whether studying at our on-campus museum; participating in our five major productions annually; performing in our ensembles and choir; joining the art history student society; participating in service learning projects; or studying abroad in our specialty international summer programs, our students choose from a variety of activities that will enrich their years here and beyond.

Fine Arts International Programs

We strongly encourage students to study abroad through Pepperdine's International Programs. Students who study abroad get to experience art firsthand in its cultural context. Our summer and academic-year programs provide students with an excellent way to gain overseas experience and make rapid progress towards fulfilling the language requirement for the major.

Please explore International Programs' offerings and our major-specific programs. Theatre and Music students are encouraged to study abroad during the summer.

Secondary Teaching Credentials

Students seeking a secondary credential in art, music, or English (Theatre) must satisfy all of the major requirements. More information about the credential program can be obtained from the Humanities and Teacher Education Division of Seaver College.

Pepperdine art student Sarah Attar

Pepperdine's multimedia design and art history student, Sarah Attar, made history at the 2012 London Olympics when she became one of two first-ever women athletes to represent Saudi Arabia in the Olympic games.
