Orientation: General Information
What is New Student Orientation?
New Student Orientation (NSO) is a program intentionally designed for incoming students and their parents. The program will include information on academics, student activities, student services, living on campus, international programs, and much more. University administrators, faculty, staff, and upper-division students will be available throughout the program to answer all of your questions about college life. NSO begins Tuesday, August 25, for all students. NSO ends for parents on Thursday, August 27, 3 p.m. Classes begin Monday, August 31. All new students are required to attend New Student Orientation.
Who Attends New Student Orientation?
NSO is designed for new students who intend to enroll at Seaver College and their parents or other family members. A majority of the students attending NSO will be accompanied by one or more parents; however, there will be several students attending without parents. In addition, there will be faculty members and selected upper-division students present to assist with academic advising and answer any questions.
Check in Location and Starting Time
NSO will take place for all students on the Seaver College Malibu campus. Check-in is in the RHO parking lot from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
Registration Fees and Deadline
NSO is free for incoming Seaver students. The registration fee for parents is $125 per person (16 and over). This fee covers registration, orientation materials, meals, and a t-shirt. It does not include transportation to and from the airport or lodging for parents. The deadline for registering for orientation is June 26, 2015. Parents can register anytime. We will accept cash or check on move in day.
All NSO registration cancellations must be e-mailed at least one week before NSO begins. Refunds for parents will be available two weeks following the conclusion of the program. Questions may be directed to Student Activities at (310) 506-4201.
