I struggled to jog in place when creating each new painting, being forced to dive deeper and analyze rather than move on to the next. This series of paintings pushed me out of my comfort zone of painting natural objects and landscapes. Using geometric structure as a binding component, my fascination was found in softening harsh edges using organic texture, especially in the way a palette knife provides. The challenge of achieving this relationship between the organic surface with the geometric form actually became a rich learning experience while becoming the subject of my work.
