Senior Art Exhibit 2004: Diana Pearson
I am unfinished, imperfect, rough around the edges. My art teaches me that even beneath the most disturbing elements something beautiful is waiting to emerge. To find it, I must search for what is most vital, respond to it, and let only what is essential come to the surface.
Patched up, painted over, transparent parts of me are today put on display.
What at the surface is the illusion of balance and harmony, is beneath the surface layers upon layers of chaos. Layers of love letters, painful confessions, goodbyes, closed chapters, open books, and heartfelt prayers. Together they are something altogether different, something new. Together they are worship. At their core, they express the hope that out of brokenness and chaos, in my Creator, all things will be made new.
