Senior Art Exhibit 2003: Elizabeth Jimenez

My culture is an important part of my life and has affected the way I see the world around me. My tribe (the Haida) are an island people from Southeastern Alaska. The rich and fertile land of the Haida was a great influence to their culture and inspired their distinct way of artistic expression. Therefore, I chose to use the Northwest Coast climate and culture as the focus in my work. |
My grandparents were from the last generation of Haida to speak our language fluently. They played a significant role in the pride I have for my heritage. My Nana and Chinah passed away during my time here at Pepperdine.
I would like to dedicate my show to them.
