How do I find an internship?

The DC Internship office can be a source of ideas and resources as you search for your internship. The opportunities are virtually endless in a city such as Washington. You should select several possible workplaces, preferably tied to your interests or major. Begin contacting them as soon as possible as many have early deadlines. You can view DC internships on Career Space anytime through your Wavenet account. Also appointments are available for one-on-one search sessions regarding internships. Please call x 7408 for an appointment.

How many hours a week are most internships?

Students typically work 32-40 hours per week. Students are encouraged to consider the number of classes they are taking when determining the number of hours they will work. Summer students work a regular 40-hour week.

Where would I live?

All students reside at 2011 Pennsylvania Ave.  Just 3 blocks from the White House. Each residential floor has a lounge and a laundry room.  The apartments are two bedroom, and there are 4 students in each apartment.

How much does the program cost?

It varies from each term and year.  Tuition is the same as on the Malibu Campus.  Program costs include housing, some food and the educational field trip.  It does not include transportation.

Participating in the Washington DC Internship Program does not affect tuition rates or scholarships. In addition to the housing fee, students are responsible for their own transportation to and from DC and commuting costs to and from work each day. Metro rates can add up. Students are encouraged to check the current rates.

How will I take classes?

Classes are in the evening in our DC Program facility.  Also, you get academic credit for your internship, up to 8 units.
