Frequently Asked Questions

What are the program dates?

June 22 - July 3, 2009 (online format);

July 5 - July 31, 2009 (on campus).

When do I check in?

July 5, 10am-12pm. Students are asked to arrive and move into their residence hall that morning. Orientation activities will take place July 5. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate residence requests outside of these dates and times; therefore, no student may move in before July 5, and no student may remain in the residence hall after twelve noon on August1st, without exception.

What is the cost of the program?

Students pay a comprehensive program fee of $7585. This includes tuition, room and board. Books are not included. Once a student is admitted to the program, a $250 non-refundable deposit is required. This will be applied to the program fee. Students will be notified of the deposit and program fee deadlines in the acceptance letter.

Is there any financial aid available for this program?

We apologize, but there is no financial aid available from Pepperdine for this program. We do however encourage you to look into any local scholarships in your area.

How selective is the program?

Admission is selective; however it is not as selective as that of Pepperdine undergraduate admission. Students are strongly encouraged to apply during the Early Decision period (before March 15) as enrollment is limited.

How much homework can I expect?

Since you will be doing college level work, be prepared to spend several hours per day reading, writing and/or working on projects.

What will my room be like?

Each double occupancy room consists of two extra long twin beds, two dressers, two desks, two bookcases, and two closets. All buildings are carpeted in blue, have finished white walls, and each room has two large windows with blinds.

What is the Pepperdine community atmosphere?

Our goal is to provide an environment that is consistent with the Christian ideals and the rigorous academic demands of Pepperdine University. Community guidelines are intended to provide residents with a safe and productive environment.

What do I need to bring?

Bring towels, a pillow and bedding to fit the extra long twin bed size. Items popular among our undergraduate students are computers, personal office supplies (stapler, staples, paper clips etc) stereos and televisions, along with any personal items you might need. Small personal fans are also popular. Other supplies are available at the bookstore.

Is there anything I should not bring?

Because of the fire codes and health and sanitary requirements, the following items are not permitted on campus:

  • Toaster ovens
  • Hot plates or any appliance with an exposed heating element
  • Microwaves
  • Candles and barbecues

An active telephone jack is provided in each room as well as in-room access to the Internet and email. Student rooms are not wireless, therefore, you will need to bring or purchase an ethernet cable (and ethernet card if your computer uses one) to connect to the Internet and email. All academic, non-residential buildings are wireless. Summer College students will also be provided with one phone line per room. Long distance service is not provided. Students may purchase calling cards in order to make long distance calls. Calling cards are available at the bookstore).

Can I send my luggage before I arrive?

Luggage and other belongings can be shipped to the University warehouse, and can be shipped up to thirty days before you arrive. Pepperdine University's Warehouse will not deliver shipped items to your room. Packages must have in bold lettering, "Please Hold For Student (Last Name), (First Name)" on the mailing label. These packages must be picked-up at the warehouse facility during regular business hours. It's a good idea to bring along bed linens and personal toiletries for the first night's stay at campus, just in case your box arrives late

Do not ship items you will need immediately as you will not be able to pick up shipped items until Monday morning when the warehouse opens..
