Chapel/Convocation & Student-led Ministries

Convocation Intern (1 position)
The Convocation Intern will help bring leadership to the Wednesday morning Convocation programs and will serve as a “voice of the students” on the Convocation Advisory Panel. As a programming Intern, you will work closely with the Coordinator of Convocation/Chapel programs to create and implement faith developing and spiritually nurturing programming for the Pepperdine student body. Primary responsibilities could include, but are not limited to: participating in weekly programming meetings, serving a primary leadership role on Wednesday mornings to help implement the service and all corresponding details, helping to coordinate luncheon details when Pepperdine hosts Convocation speakers from off campus, being present at all 1:00 p.m. Convocation programs in conjunction with Wednesday morning off-campus speakers, and assist in booking speakers for the following year’s program. Students applying for this position should have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and be involved with a local church. Approximately 5-10 hours per week. This is a paid leadership position. Federal work study or Pepperdine work study preferred. 

Coordinating Intern (1 position)
The Coordinating Intern will assist the Administrative Coordinator for Convocation in processing the high volume of records for Convocation.  The student will become familiar with Convocation policies and assist in coordinating the exemption and record change request processes.  This position will also assist in scheduling student scanners to be present at Convocation events.  Students applying for this position should have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and be involved with a local church. Approximately 10 hours per week. This is a paid leadership position. Federal work study or Pepperdine work study preferred. 

Chapel Music Intern (1 position)
The Convocation Music Intern will serve as coordinator of music for the Wednesday morning chapel programming. As a programming Intern, you will work closely with the Coordinator of Convocation/Chapel programs to create a cohesive worship environment for students who attend these services. Primary responsibilities will include: participating in weekly programming meetings, recruit and work with a variety of Christian musician on campus to create a cappella praise teams that can lead on a rotating basis, schedule and attend multiple rehearsals each week, coordinating weekly details as it pertains to music for upcoming services, and being present at each service to help with logistical details. This student must have a strong worship leadership experience in the a cappella tradition, as well as, the ability to teach different musical parts. Students applying for this position should have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and be involved with a local church. Approximately 5-7 hours per week. This is a paid leadership position. Federal work study or Pepperdine work study preferred.

Celebration Chapel Interns (2-4 positions)
Celebration Chapel is a thriving student-led ministry on our campus. One Celebration Chapel intern will serve as coordinator of the Friday morning chapel programming. As a programming student leader, you will work closely with the Coordinator of Convocation/Chapel programs to create and implement faith developing and spiritually nurturing programming for the Pepperdine student body. Primary responsibilities will include: participating in weekly programming meetings, setting the speaking and thematic schedule for the fall and spring semesters, coordinating weekly details for upcoming services, and being present at each service to help with logistical details. The other position will serve as the Celebration Music intern to create a cohesive worship environment for students who attend these services. Primary responsibilities will include: participating in weekly programming meetings, recruit and work with a variety of Christian musicians on campus to create instrumental praise teams that can lead on a rotating basis, coordinating weekly details as it pertains to music for upcoming services, and being present at each service to help with logistical details Students applying for this position should have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and be involved with a local church. Approximately 5-7 hours per week. This is a paid leadership position. Federal work study or Pepperdine work study preferred.

Graduate Assistant for Student-led Ministries (1 position)
This newly created position will work with current student-led ministry teams, as well as, create new opportunities for members of the Pepperdine student body to put their faith into action through ministry opportunities both on and off campus. This position will provide leadership to the eight class chaplains and help to foster in them spiritual growth as they provide similar opportunities for their class members. There is a lot of room for growth in this position. This position reports directly to the Coordinator of Chapel/Convocation & Student-led Ministries. Students applying for this position should have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and be involved with a local church. Approximately 5 hours per week. This is a paid leadership position for a Pepperdine Graduate student.
