Spring 2008 Family Newsletter

It seems like only yesterday that I said goodbye to my Seaver College student, just as you may have, in anticipation of her first year at Pepperdine University. Our daughter, Jessica, will graduate from Seaver College this April, and as I look back on her experience at Pepperdine, I cannot believe the time has passed by so quickly. From those first few days on campus until now, after experiences abroad, volunteer service, and tremendous academic growth, I am certain you are as proud of your child as I am of mine.

and Helen Young, George Pepperdine College Class of 1939.

I continue to marvel at the developing maturity of our young people, grateful that Pepperdine encourages their independence while shepherding them, gently but seriously, through their undergraduate years. I hope your child is having the experience of a lifetime, learning about the world, making forever friends, and contemplating the role they will play in a global society. Their stories affirm the investment that Pepperdine has made in their minds, and in their hearts.

I am pleased to share with you the spring edition of the online Pepperdine Family Newsletter. This biannual publication will provide useful information about the Pepperdine family and hopefully inspire you to get involved. As parents, we consider you to be valued members of our community, joining us in our mission to prepare students for lives of purpose, service and leadership. In this edition, be sure to browse through some of the exciting events that have taken place this school year! Some of my personal favorites include:

  • A feature on Seaver College Dean David Baird
  • Chief Justice John G. Roberts' visit to the School of Law
  • On-campus housing tips and dates
  • And the many articles listed under "Involvement" telling of opportunities for all parents to get involved!

I hope you will enjoy this publication! We would enjoy hearing from you if you have any questions or concerns. It is our goal to be of service to you.

Sincerely,

Sara Young Jackson
