Loyd Frashier, a Pepperdine Faculty Emeritus member, passed away on December 26 at the age of 96. He taught originally in the Natural Sciences Division of George Pepperdine College in Los Angeles before joining the Seaver College faculty in Malibu.
A graduate of Harding University, Dr. Frashier earned his PhD in biochemistry from UC Berkeley. He was a former chair of Pepperdine's Natural Science Division, and his wife Anne worked as a Pepperdine librarian for approximately two decades. The couple resided on the Malibu campus for 30 years and remained active in the community.
"The Frashiers were truly a remarkable, beloved couple," said vice provost Lee Kats. "They were close to so many people in the Pepperdine family and all three of their children, as well as their grandson, are Pepperdine graduates. You would always see Loyd at athletic events and Anne and he attend Founder's Day each year." Kats added, "Many Seaver science students got to know Dr. Frashier years after his retirement, as he accompanied and led the ecology class on local bird watching field trips for over a decade."
The Frashiers were long-time members of the Woodland Hills Church of Christ and their work in the church was recognized during the annual Pepperdine Bible Lectures.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Christian Chronicle: https://christianchronicle.webconnex.com/donate.
