The Special Collections and University Archives will host an exhibit during the week of Bible Lectures to highlight the lives of several influential members of the Churches of Christ. The exhibit will be open to the public Wednesday through Friday, May 2 to 4, from 12 to 5 p.m. in room 326 on the second floor of Payson Library, Malibu.
"Our Special Collections and Archives Room holds invaluable treasures that illuminate the lives of influential church members such as Norvel and Helen Young; George and Helen Pepperdine; and J. M. McCaleb," says dean of Libraries Mark Roosa. "It is one thing to read about their history; it is another to examine original letters they wrote, look at photographs of their families, and leaf through their personal scrapbooks. History truly comes alive right in front of you. I encourage everyone to visit the top floor of Payson Library and share in this unique experience."
Featured leaders include Norvel (1915-1998) and Helen (b. 1918) Young; George (1886-1962) and Helen (1903-1990) Pepperdine; and J.M. McCaleb (1861-1953). Through letters, diaries, photographs, scrapbooks, and memorabilia, the materials on display will give exhibit attendees a window into the lives of these notable individuals. Rare biographies of other historic church leaders will also be included. This will be a special opportunity to see unique materials from the vault.
