Natural Science Division

Student ResearcH

The primary goal of the Natural Science Division is to educate our students and prepare them for lives of purpose, service and leadership. To achieve this goal, the various disciplines represented in the division share a mutual philosophy related to undergraduate education. Results of the Division's approach to undergraduate research are compatible with the results of prior research on undergraduate research and shows a strong link between involvement of students in research and pursuit of a post-graduate science-related career or continued post-graduate training in science and medicine. Through exposure to the research enterprise, students learn to think critically, gain a better understanding of scientific processes, and become more effective at communicating scientific information. As a consequence, their overall view of science is enhanced, thus promoting a desire to consider careers in science and medicine from a much broader perspective.
