Italian club: c.i.a.o.

The purpose of C.I.A.O. (Cultural Italian American Organization) is to provide a forum on campus for the promotion and perpetuation of the study of Italian heritage and culture among students and Italophiles. Membership is open to everyone who wish to participate in the various activities of the organization. The club offers many events, including notable guest speakers, recitals, Italian film appreciation, and much more.

Dacia Maraini
April 1st, 2009 at 2:00 PM in Drescher auditorium

Dacia Maraini is one of the most well-known Italian writers, whose works are among the most translated in the world. Her renown is also due to her fine talent as a critic, poet and playwright. She will talk about the art of writing, her award-winning novels, and she will answer to students questions about her work: La lunga vita di Marianna Ucrìa, 1990, Campiello award; Book of the Year award in 1990.

Refreshments to follow. Free and open to the public.

Past Events

C.I.A.O. collaborated with Fondazione Azzurra to present an afternoon of Italian business and culture with David Gross of Ducati Motor Holding Co.

Mr. David Gross, Creative Director of Ducati Motor Holding Co., based in Bologna, Italy, made a special visit to Pepperdine to deliver a unique address to the community about how he fell in love with the Italian culture and re-launched the Ducati brand. He is also the author of the recently published, Fast Company: A Memoir of Life, Love and Motorcycles in Italy.

Te permitirá interactuar con gente con quien normalmente no te relacionas.

Sabrás que alguien aprecia tu ayuda y te espera.

Pondrás en práctica tu español y aprenderás mucho más.

Color Esperanza

 

Color esperanza es un programa de servicio a la comunidad. Nuestro lema es: "aprender sirviendo - servir aprendiendo".

Color Esperanza

El primer proyecto de Color esperanza consiste en ofrecer servicio de ayuda escolar en diferentes organizaciones, como After School Homework and Literacy Program de Many Mansions en Thousand Oaks, a sólo treinta minutos del campus!

Los estudiantes que quieran participar en este proyecto pueden hacerlo de lunes a viernes, de 3:00 a 6:00 de la tarde.

Los estudiantes pueden ayudar a los niños ya sea brindando apoyo escolar (matemáticas, inglés, lectura, escitura, etc.) o interactuando con ellos en otras actividades como computación, arte, baile, pintura.

El nombre del proyecto fue inspirado en la canción "Color esperanza" de Diego Torres, es muy bonita!

Muchos niños pertenecen a la comunidad hispánica, de familias de bajos recursos.
