Florence, Italy: Course Offerings

 

FLORENCE COMMUNITY LIVING PROGRAM
FALL & SPRING 2007-2008

Prerequisite: Students must complete ITAL 151 or its equivalent by the end of the Spring 2007 semester to participate. Students participating in the Spring Only 2008 semester must complete ITAL 152 by the end of the Fall 2007 semester

General Requirements: While studying in the Florence Program all students must enroll in 12-18 units including an Italian course each semester for a letter grade.

Students will register for their Fall Florence courses online in March during Fall 2007 registration. Students will register for their Spring Florence courses online in November during Spring 2008 registration. Please check your Pepperdine email for your exact registration time; and the International Programs website http://seaver.pepperdine.edu/internationalprograms/ in March and November for the course call numbers.

EACH SEMESTER:

• HUM 295 – The International Experience (0-1) CR/NC grading only. An optional course designed to maximize the student's international experience by providing opportunities to engage more fully with the culture and to reflect more carefully on the experience.

• ITAL 251 – Second-Year Italian I (4) (GE) Prerequisite: ITAL 152

• ITAL 252 – Second-Year Italian II (4) Prerequisite: ITAL 251

• NASC 109 – Introduction to Astronomy (4) (GE Lab Science)

• PE Elective Courses
CR/NC grading only. Requires the payment of an extra fee.

REL 549 – Christian Marriage in a Modern World (4)

A spring semester educational field trip is part of this program.
 

Cost: Flat-rate tuition (12-18 units) is identical to that in Malibu. Additionally, the International Programs Fee covers room and board charges equivalent to those in Malibu, round-trip airfare, the educational field trip, and other extra events and excursions. Students live in Villa Tagliaferi, a Pepperdine facility.

Classes normally meet 4 days a week. A long weekend for travel will be scheduled in the Fall semester.

All courses offered depend upon the availability of qualified faculty and other program activities depend upon qualified personnel. The University contracts with scheduled air carriers and local operators and travel dates may be changed in the case of armed conflict, terrorist activity, natural disasters, strikes, or other unforeseen circumstances. The International Programs Office will always have the latest information concerning these programs.
