SWITZERLAND INTERNSHIP

Associate Professor of History
Prerequisites: 2.3 minimum GPA and 30 units
by the end of Spring 2008. Please check with your major advisor to
determine applicability & eligibility for this program.
Students must meet all prerequisite requirements for each course
they intend on taking overseas. Waivers cannot be issued for
students to take courses without meeting prerequisite requirements.

Academic Program: Your resume will stand out
with an internship experience in Lausanne. Students will participate
in internships Monday - Thursday. Students take a minimum of 4
units.

Registration:
Students will register for their Summer IP courses
online in Spring after their contract signing. Summer course call

Courses:
Students take one internship course from the following:
• SAAJ 324 - Social Action and Justice IV (4) Letter grade
only. Prerequisites: approval of the SAAJ director.
• PSYC 595 - Supervised Field Work (4) CR/NC grading only.
Prerequisite: consent of the division chairperson.
• GSGS 595 - Experiential Learning (4) Letter grade only.
Satisfies the BA 599 – Marketing Internship requirement for
Marketing Minors. Prerequisites: applicants must have completed 60
units. Consent of the Division Chair is required. Students take this internship
course if one of the above program/major specific courses does not
apply. Check with your advisor. Student may accumulate a maximum of
4 units in this course.

Location: Students will reside in a Pepperdine residential facility
in Lausanne taking advantage of the living/learning community.
Lausanne is located in the French speaking part of Switzerland on
picturesque Lake Geneva, a few hours from the Swiss Alps and 30
minutes from Geneva. It is home to the Olympic headquarters and
Museum. Lausanne is centrally located for easy train access to all
the major cities of Europe. Students can take a bullet train to
Paris in less than four hours.
Travel & Meals: Round-trip travel between LAX and Lausanne
on a group-flight is included in the program fee. Students will
receive a travel stipend towards their expenses traveling to and
from their internships. Most meals will be provided. Due to
the nature of this program, no Educational Field Trip is included;
however the IP Charge has been discounted accordingly.
Personnel: The Visiting Faculty member will be
Darlene Rivas. Mary Mayenfisch will be the Program Director and
supervise the internships. Pepperdine local adjunct faculty members
will teach the courses.
Cost: The tuition cost is $1,070 per unit, and each
student must take a minimum of 4 units. There will also be an International Programs
Charge of $5850 which will cover orientations, airfare and transfers to and
from airport, room, most meals, the
travel stipend, and other program extras. Textbooks and personal
costs, such as individual weekend travel, are not included.

* Schedules depend upon airline space availabilities and may
be changed. All courses and other program activities offered are
dependent upon availability of faculty who teach these courses. The
University contracts with scheduled air carriers and local operators
and travel dates may be changed in the case of armed conflict,
terrorist activity, natural disasters, strikes, or other unforeseen
circumstances. The International Programs Office will always have
the latest information concerning these programs.
