During their stay in Roatán, students will receive instruction in medical Spanish, and will have an orientation to the rural health care services available in Honduras. Students will have opportunities to work in a clinic, shadow local doctors, assist in specialized clinics, participate in AIDS education, and hear many speakers on the local health care system. Excursions include visiting the Copan Ruins, swimming with dolphins, canopy tours, snorkeling and kayaking.

Personnel: The Visiting Instructor will be Holly Martin.  Local adjunct faculty will teach other courses.

Cost: The tuition cost is $1,135 per unit, and each student must take a minimum of 4 units. The International Programs Charge of $4,130 covers orientations, airfare and transfers to and from airports, educational field excursions, room, most meals, and other program extras. Textbooks and personal costs, such as individual weekend travel, are not included. Financial Aid is available for eligible students. NOTE: Because service learning is an integral part of this program, students are permitted to raise funds from churches and other interested persons or organizations in order to cover the International Programs Charge portion of the program.
