Special Interest Programs: Edinburgh

 

EDINBURGH THEATER PROGRAM
June 26th – August 14th, 2008

Prerequisites: 2.5 minimum GPA and 30 units by the end of Spring 08.  Students must meet all prerequisite requirements for each course they intend on taking overseas. Waivers cannot be issued for students to take courses without meeting prerequisite requirements. No exceptions will be made. Academic Program: Students must enroll in a minimum of 5 units. Students will register for their Summer IP courses online in Spring after their contract signing. Please check the IP website for the course call numbers.

Purchase your Textbooks before you go overseas. Students are expected to have textbooks the first day of class.  Textbooks will be available in the Pepperdine bookstore.

Students in the program will present a play as a part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. All students must be actively involved in the theatre presentation.

Location and Travel:
The program will begin June 26th when we board the group flight at LAX and travel to London. Students will attend classes, rehearse the Edinburgh production, and attend selected theatre productions and field trips in London until July 28th, at which time they will travel to Edinburgh. The group returns to Los Angeles August 14th. 

Housing: Students will be housed in a resident facility in London and in rented apartments while in Edinburgh.

Meals: Breakfast is provided at the residential facility. A group meal is provided each week. Students are given stored value cards to purchase lunch and dinner. Kitchen facilities are available in the apartments in Edinburgh and students will be provided stored value cards for their meals there as well.

Cost: The tuition cost is $1070 per unit and each student must take a minimum of 5 units. Students may take a maximum of 7 units. The International Programs Charge of $6460 covers orientations, airfare and transfers to and from airports, educational field trips, theatre tickets, rooms, all meals, and other program extras. Textbooks and personal costs, such as spending money, are not included. Financial assistance is available for eligible students.

*All courses offered depend upon the availability of qualified faculty and other program activities depend upon qualified personnel. The University contracts with scheduled air carriers and local operators and travel dates may be changed in the case of armed conflict, terrorist activity, natural disasters, strikes, or other unforeseen circumstances. The International Programs Office will always have the latest information concerning these programs.
