Summer Program: Buenos Aires Spanish

BUENOS AIRES SPANISH COMPLETION PROGRAM

Prerequisites: 2.3 minimum GPA and 30 units by the end of Spring 09.  Students must meet all prerequisite requirements for each course they intend on taking overseas. Waivers cannot be issued for students to take courses without meeting prerequisite requirements. No exceptions will be made. Please contact Nichole Skelton () in IP with any questions.

Registration:
Students will register for their Summer IP courses online in Spring after their contract signing. Summer course call numbers can be found on the 'Summer Class Schedule - International Programs - PDF' link at the following website: http://seaver.pepperdine.edu/academics/schedule/. Please contact if you have any registration questions.

Academic Program: Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 units for a letter grade from either Track 1 or 2.  Students must enroll in a minimum of 10 units for a letter grade from either Track 3 or 4.

Textbooks: 
 Purchase your textbooks before you go overseas. Students are expected to have textbooks the first day of class.  Textbooks will be available at the Pepperdine bookstore in Malibu.

Location: Often called the "Paris of South America" for its wide boulevards and active sidewalk café life, and home of the tango, Buenos Aires is one of the world's great cities. Classes are taught in the Pepperdine facility, Casa Olleros. Students will live in the homes of carefully chosen families. Students will have access to Pepperdine's Casa Holden, a student center, computer lab, and study center located in Belgrano, an attractive suburb of the dynamic metropolis of Buenos Aires.

Travel: Round-trip travel between LAX and Buenos Aires on a group-flight is included in the program fee. In addition, there are local excursions to sites of educational and cultural interest.

Meals: Breakfasts and dinners are provided by the host families. Students receive cash allowances for lunches on class days. There is one group meal per week.

Personnel: The Visiting Faculty member will be Professor Jeff Jasperse. Long-term Pepperdine local adjunct faculty members will teach the other courses.

Cost: The tuition cost is $1,135 per unit, and each student must take a minimum of 12 units for Tracks 1 & 2 or a minimum of 10 units for Tracks 3 & 4. The International Programs Charge of $6,180 covers orientations, airfare and transfers to and from airports, an Educational Field Trip, room and board, and other program extras. Textbooks and personal costs, such as individual weekend travel, are not included. Financial Aid is available for eligible students. * Schedules depend upon airline space availabilities and may be changed. All courses and other program activities offered are dependent upon availability of faculty who teach these courses. The University contracts with scheduled air carriers and local operators and travel dates may be changed in the case of armed conflict, terrorist activity, natural disasters, strikes, or other unforeseen circumstances. The International Programs Office will always have the latest information concerning these programs.
