Scholarship Information

 

GILMAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. This scholarship would apply to all academic year international programs (not summer). Over 700 scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded. GILMAN CRITICAL NEED LANGUAGE SUPPLEMENT

Students who apply for and receive the Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad are now eligible to receive an additional $3,000 Critical Need Language Supplement from the Gilman Program for a total possible award of up to $8,000. This scholarship applies only to those studying Chinese in the Shanghai, China program. Students must apply to the Gilman International Scholarship above first. For more information click here.


DAVID L. BOREN NATIONAL SECURITY EDUCATION PROGRAM (NSEP) UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

The National Security Education Program founded this scholarship. It is guided by a mission that seeks to lead in development of the national capacity to educate U.S. citizens, understand foreign cultures, strengthen U.S. economic competitiveness and enhance international cooperation and security. Recipients incur a service requirement which is fulfilled by working in the federal government for one year following completion of the undergraduate degree. This scholarship applies to the following programs: Argentina (year or semester), China or Thailand. You can earn up to $10,000 for a semester, or $20,000 for the academic year. The application deadline is in February 12th, but students must complete an internal process by submitting an application by December 8th. THE GERMAN ACADEMIC EXCHANGE SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP (DAAD)

Each year this program supports approximately 50-60 U.S. and Canadian undergraduate students. They hope to help these students reach their academic goals while building important and lasting bonds of friendship between their countries and introducing them to the benefits of the German higher education system. Highly qualified undergraduate students are invited to apply for scholarships funding study, senior thesis research and/or internships in Germany from four to ten months. The Undergraduate Scholarship Committee will not review freshman applicants unless they prove that they have sophomore standing.  Scholarships are available either as part of an organized study abroad program or as part of an individual, student-designed study abroad semester or year. The application deadline is January 31, 2008.  Pepperdine students may submit their applications for revision by January 7th. FREEMAN-ASIA SCHOLARSHIP

The Freeman-Asia scholarship application is open to students studying in the China or Thailand programs. Students can earn up to $3,000 for the summer, $5,000 for a semester, or $7,000 for the academic year. ROTARY INTERNATIONAL AMBASSADORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Academic-Year Ambassadorial Scholarships are available to students for one academic year of study in another country. This award will help to cover round-trip transportation, tuition, fees, room and board expenses, and some educational supplies up to $23,000. For some countries you must also pass a language proficiency exam if your native language is not that of your proposed study country to be considered for this award. NEW ONLINE SCHOLARSHIP DIRECTORY FOR STUDY ABROAD FUNDING

IIE (Institute of International Education) is pleased to announce a new online directory, www.StudyAbroadFunding.org, developed in partnership with Educational Directories Unlimited, Inc. (EDU). This new resource will feature detailed information on hundreds of scholarships, grants, and fellowships available for undergraduate and graduate study, and doctoral and post-doctoral research outside of the United States. The funding opportunities are searchable by host country, field of study, and sponsoring organization.
