Advising in the English Major
Upon declaring an English major, students are assigned to an English advisor. The English advisor meets with students by appointment or on a drop-in basis. Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor initially to develop a four year plan of studies, and at least once each semester to discuss course selection, program offerings, and post graduate plans.
Students with post graduate plans should meet with the appropriate advisor listed below:
-
Law School
Dr. Cyndia Clegg (literature) or
Dr. Lorie Goodman (writing and rhetoric).
-
Graduate School
Dr. Julianne Smith
-
postbaccalaureate (Fulbright Scholars and Rhodes) opportunities
Dr. Frank Novak
-
Teaching (Secondary Credential)
Dr. Maire Mullins (English) and
Dr. Stella Erbes (Teacher Education)
Since fulfilling requirements for both the English Secondary Teaching credential requires a tightly crafted schedule, students should seek early advising to complete requirements. Sheets listing the requirements for a teaching credential for secondary schools may be obtained in CAC 300.
