Teacher Education: Admission Requirements

All applicants to the Teacher Education program are admitted conditionally pending evaluation and clearance on University and State of California credential requirements. Admission to Seaver College does not guarantee admission to a teaching credential program. Minimum teacher education admission requirements include:

  • An overall grade point average of 2.5 or higher. This must be maintained to remain in the program.
  • Securing a Certificate of Clearance conforming with state of California requirements.
  • Completion of a minimum of 45 semester units of undergraduate study at an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • A physical examination with tuberculosis clearance.
  • Score at the appropriate level of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
  • Score at the appropriate level of the California Subject Evaluation for Teachers (CSET) or completion of a state approved subject matter program, depending on the major.
  • Successful completion of EDUC 561 and EDUC 562.
