Students attend a liberal arts college primarily to receive the
intellectual and cultural breadth it offers. The humanities major
provides such breadth because it includes the sum of human
achievements as seen through the perspectives of history, literature,
philosophy, art, music, religion, and the theatre. The student who
majors in humanities is encouraged to take appropriate classes in the
Religion and Fine Arts divisions as well as in the Humanities and
Teacher Education Division.
