From the Graduate Fellowships site you are invited to research nationally competitive undergraduate and graduate fellowships, the application process for these awards and the resources available to you as you apply.
Nationally competitive fellowships provide unique opportunities for study and travel. Additionally, they are highly selective, prestigious awards. While the Fulbright Grant supports cultural immersion and research in one of 140 countries, other fellowships provide financial support for graduate study in specific countries. The Marshall, Gates Cambridge and Rhodes scholarships support study in the United Kingdom. Some fellowships are specific to academic fields, such as the Goldwater Scholarship and the Jacob K. Javits Fellowship. We have also included scholarships that apply to undergraduate academics, however you should consult Financial Assistance for general information on funding.
We urge you to begin thinking about these opportunities early in your academic career. As you consider your academic interests and goals, you may find fellowships that match your objectives. Upon familiarizing yourself with the fellowships, you will discern what to do to become a strong candidate. Consult Applying where you will find information and advice for applying. The earlier you begin, the more time you have to develop a strong resume for future application.
As you consider these possibilities, we would also like for you to know about the support available. Faculty Advisors offer guidance to students, serve as representatives to the various scholarship organizations, and in some cases, nominate candidates to national selection committees. Additionally, you may solicit information from Melissa Umbro, Coordinator of National Scholarships and Awards (x7573 melissa.umbro@pepperdine.edu).
