Visiting Professor of Theatre
Office: AMB 311
Phone: 310 506-4377
Email: Jason.Chanos@pepperdine.edu
Jason Chanos earned his Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Northern Colorado in 1994 and his Master’s from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1997. At both schools, he specialized and double-majored in Acting and Directing.
Since then he has been working professionally as a regional stage actor and has performed in over 4o stage productions across the country with companies like Playwrights Horizons in New York, Kansas City Repertory, Denver Center Theatre Company and The Utah Shakespeare Festival. He has also directed dozen of shows, made numerous TV, voice-over and print commercials, joined the actors unions and, of course, taught.
Since moving to Los Angeles in 2005, he has performed with the award winning companies A Noise Within, Rubicon Theatre and Boston Court, filmed a (recently awarded) short film titled “Love” and co-starred on episodes of Cold Case and Numb3rs for CBS.
Jason has previously been offered teaching assignments at Cornell and his alma mater at Northern Colorado, but it will be Pepperdine, that claims his first teaching assignment at a major university, and he is very proud and grateful to be accepting the honor.
