Professor Mitchell Newman, a native of Los Angeles, has been a member
of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 1987. He is a frequent
performer on the Los Angeles Philharmonic Chamber Music and New Music
Group series. Professor Newman has played on the Sundays at Four
radio broadcasts, the Da Camera Society Concerts in Historic Sites
series and in festivals in Austria and France. Professor Newman is
a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with
David Cerone and Aaron Rosand. In 1991, he founded Harmony: Music for
Mental Health, an annual fundraising chamber music concert for the
Mental Health Association of Los Angeles County. He currently teaches
privately and at Pepperdine University. Violinist Newman is happily
married to pianist Kim O'Reilly, with their two cats Wally and
Miranda. |
