Classical Guitar Program Course Description

Your studies in the classical guitar will consist of  the following in each semester:

  • Seven one-hour private lessons (MUS 103/203/303/403) with Professor Parkening.
  • Seven one-hour studio classes with Professor Parkening (with all classical guitar majors.)
  • Enrollment in MUS 145: Performance Skills Class (a one unit course to be taken once every academic year, commencing Fall, 2008.)
  • Enrollment in MUS 150/350: Guitar Ensemble Class (six semesters required for applied music majors, commencing Spring, 2008)
  • Participation in one four-hour master class for all classical guitar students (this class is open to outside performers and auditors).
  • Attendance in two one-hour group guitar classes for all guitarists studying at Pepperdine in all musical styles.
  • Study in specific classical guitar repertoire which will give a balance of technical and musical challenges, as well as create a diverse and rich repertoire suitable for performance.
