2008-09 Graduate Student Information

 

The Seaver College Office of Financial Assistance handles the following graduate programs:  American Studies, Communication, Divinity, History, Ministry and Religion.

Federal and Private loans are available for Seaver Graduate Students.  In order to qualify for a Federal Loan, you will need to submit the following to the Seaver College Office of Financial Assistance:

  • Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA) - - click here to link to the online FAFSA application.
  • A copy of your Federal Income Tax Return if your FAFSA information is selected for verification.

After your FAFSA information is received by the Office of Student Financial Assistance, a Financial Assistance Notification will be available for you to view in WaveNet.  If you accept your loan(s) in WaveNet you will then be prompted to apply for the loan(s).
 

LOAN INFORMATION

FEDERAL LOANS:

FEDERAL SUBSIDIZED STAFFORD LOAN:

  • Based on financial need as determined by the FAFSA form.
  • Annual loan amount is $8,500.
  • Interest rate is a fixed rate of 6.80%.
  • Interest will not begin to accrue until the borrower enters repayment.
  • Repayment begins 6 months after the borrower is no longer enrolled at least half-time.
  • The loan has a 10-year repayment period.
  • Depending on the lender selected, there will be a 0 - 1.0% fee deducted from the loan proceeds.  There may also be a 1% Federal Default Fee deducted from the loan proceeds.

FEDERAL UNSUBSIDIZED STAFFORD LOAN:

  • The annual loan amount is $20,500 minus any Subsidized Stafford Loan amount.
  • Interest rate is a fixed rate of 6.80%.
  • Interest will begin to accrue when the loan is disbursed.
  • Repayment begins 6 months after the borrower is no longer enrolled at least half-time.
  • The loan has a 10-year repayment period.
  • Depending on the lender selected, there will be a 0 - 1.0% fee deducted from the loan proceeds. There may also be a 1% Federal Default Fee deducted from the loan proceeds.

FEDERAL GRADUATE PLUS LOAN:

  • Students with no credit history or a satisfactory credit history can apply.  Endorser option available for students that do not meet the credit requirements.
  • Student must be a US citizen or non-citizen permanent resident.
  • Student must be enrolled at least half-time status.
  • The maximum award amount is the Cost of Education minus any financial assistance. 
  • Interest rate is 8.50% fixed.  Interest begins to accrue when the loan is disbursed.
  • Repayment begins immediately after the loan is fully disbursed.  Deferment or forbearance of payments is available.
  • The loan has up to a 25-year repayment term.
  • There will be a 3.00% origination fee and there may also be a 1.00% Federal Default fee deducted from the loan proceeds.
