2011-12 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROCESS for transfer students

Step 1: Complete the 2011-12 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The FAFSA is required to receive University grants, Cal Grant, Federal Loans, Federal Grants, and Federal Work Study. Students can obtain this form online at www.fafsa.gov.

FAFSA on the Web is a web site that allows you to complete and submit your FAFSA information on-line. Apply for a PIN or personal identification number right away at www.pin.ed.gov so you can sign your FAFSA electronically and for faster processing. Dependent students should have one of their parents get a PIN also. The address to complete your FAFSA on the Web is http://www.fafsa.gov. You may contact the Federal Processor at 1-800-433-3243, if you need additional information.

The FAFSA completion priority deadline is February 15. Use estimated tax figures to complete your FAFSA if your federal tax returns are not available. The FAFSA school code for Pepperdine University is 001264.

Only Students Selected for Verification should submit the following documents which will be listed in your "To Do List" by mid March. Review your "To Do List" often because verification items are subject to change.

Step 2: 2011-2012 Verification Worksheet

The Verification Worksheet priority deadline is April 15. Please fax to: 310-506-4746, or mail to: Seaver College Office of Financial Assistance; 24255 Pacific Coast Highway; #4301; Malibu, CA 90263-4301.

All dependent students must fill out the Dependent Student Verification Worksheet.

All independent students must fill out the Independent Student Verification Worksheet.

Step 3: Federal Income Tax Return and W-2

Submit signed and filed photocopies of the first two pages of your 2010 Federal income tax returns including Schedule C and W-2s (if applicable) for both the student and parent by the priority deadline of April 15. For dependent students, parents please identify the student for whom the tax return is submitted by printing the student’s full name, and campus wide ID at the top right hand corner of the parent(s) returns. Independent students and their spouse (if applicable) are required to submit federal tax returns including Schedule C and W-2s (if applicable). * DO NOT SUBMIT STATE TAX RETURNS *

Step 4: Other forms/documentation that may be required:

  • Income and Expense Statement
  • Federal Tax Transcript (complete form 4506-T)
  • Divorce decree or Legal separation documents

Failure to submit all required verification documents by the priority deadline may cause delays or cancellation of disbursement of federal and state awarded financial assistance. Finance charges accrue daily on past due balances. If financial assistance is delayed or cancelled it is the students/parents responsibility to find other resources to pay all charges prior to the due date in order to avoid finance charges.

PERMANENT RESIDENT VISA (GREEN CARD) PHOTOCOPY

A non-U.S. citizen with U.S. permanent residency must submit a clear photocopy of the front and back of his/her green card. Verification of all documents submitted will be completed with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). Non-U.S. citizens without U.S. permanent residency are not eligible to receive financial assistance.

GPA VERIFICATION FORM (California residents only)

All California residents should apply for the Cal Grant by completing and submitting a GPA Verification and FAFSA form. These forms must be completed by the March 2 deadline to be considered for Cal Grant eligibility. Mail your completed GPA Verification form via certified or registered mail directly to the California Student Aid Commission as indicated in the instructions.
